Janet Jackson joins Tyler Perry For new film

Jackson is returning to the big screen and starring opposite Tyler Perry in his next film Why Did I Get Married?

The film is based on Perry's play of the same name, which he will be writing, directing and producing as a feature.

The movie is the fourth in Perry's lucrative franchise which also includes Diary Of A Mad Black Woman, Madea'S Family Reunion and Daddy's Little Girls.

The film revolves around a couple who go away with friends every winter to examine their marriage in a group setting, with one of the wives bringing along a sexy temptress who causes trouble.

Jackson was last seen on the big screen in 2000 in Nutty Professor Ii: The Clumps opposite Eddie Murphy.

Filming is scheduled to start this week, in Canada and then moves to Atlanta, Georgia, where Perry recently opened his own studio.

Meanwhile another star on the move former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams has signed up to play blues singer Shug Avery in the Chicago, Illinois production of The Color Purple musical.

The Bills Bills Bills performer, 26, will joins the stars of the current Broadway production, which stars its tour in Chicago on 17 April (07).

Williams enthuses, "This is just a dream come true. I could not pass up the opportunity to do The Color Purple. To have the privilege of even auditioning was an honour for me."
