Paris Hilton Dumps Her Publicist After Jail Fiasco.

Paris Hilton has fired her publicist, as she holds him responsible for her upcoming jail spell, according to various US reports.

The troubled socialite, and heiress to to Hilton hotel empire will spend 45 days in a California correctional facility , after she was found guilty for violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license in court last Friday.

Hilton maintains that she would not have been driving her Bentley around Hollywood if she'd have known her license had been suspended.

In testimony on Friday, Hilton's publicist "Elliott Mint"z told Judge Michael T. Sauer that neither he nor his client [Paris Hilton] were aware that her license had been suspended, following a drink driving arrest last September.

The judge called Mintz's testimony "completely worthless", adding that Hilton had paperwork in her car stating that her license had been suspended.

But upon hearing the verdict, Hilton appealed, "I don't know what happened. I did what they (handlers) said... I just sign what people tell me to sign."

During the two-hour hearing at a Los Angeles court, Paris blamed her publicist for her mistake, telling the judge that he had told her that her license was only suspended for 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters.

Meanwhile, Paris has been left "Totally devastated" with the Los Angeles judge's decision to sentence her to 45 days behind bars - insisting that she "doesn't deserve this".

Paris, who had a brief career as a "Pop Star" and hasn't really done anything else of note, will serve just under seven weeks in a California jail cell, after she was found guilty for violating a probation order and driving without license in February .

The 26-year-old fought back tears as the sentence was handed down to her at Los Angeles County Superior Court by Judge Michael T. Sauer last Friday (04May07), but by Saturdayafternoon she was back in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, to apparently drown her sorrows with a bout of retail therapy.

Earlier that morning, Paris bemoaned her fate to the waiting paparazzi outside her LA home, according to the New York Daily News.

She said, "I told the truth yesterday. I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwanted and I don't deserve this."

Hilton is due to begin her prison stint at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Los Angeles County on 5 June (07).
