Helen Mirren
"Queen" actress, Dame Helen Mirren was left horrified after reports that she 'snubbed' Queen Elizabeth, after prior commitments forced her to turn down a dinner invitation to Buckingham Palace.

Helen- who won the Best Actress Academy Award this year (07) for her portrayal of the royal in the film The Queen - was "very sad" to have to turn down the dinner invitation, which clashed with filming for National Treasure: Book Of Secrets.

The actress, 61, tells the New York Post, "I am mortified. I just could not shut all that down to take three days off to go to Buckingham Palace."

Dame Helen has dedicated all

Dame Helen has dedicated all of her awards for "The Queen" to HM Queen Elizabeth II herself, has had nothing but beautiful things to say about her, and had written to inform her long ago before filming even started to tell her that the film was being made. Dame Helen has shown nothing but the greatest courtesy, respect and kindness to the Queen. It has been one of the greatest gifts to the Queen herself that Helen gave such thought, mastery, compassion, humor, and eloquence to her portrayal of her. Regarding the dinner invitation, HM Queen Elizabeth II is a kind and understanding person herself and would understand Dame Helen's first duty was to her job.
