Elton John Fan Pays $220,000 to be Serenaded

A wealthy fan of British singing Legend Sir Elton John has paid $220,000 last Thursday to be serenaded by the star.

The star-studded karaoke benefit in London saw the Rocket Man cover Elvis Presley classic Are You Lonesome Tonight? in aid of the Hoping Foundation, a charity which supports children in Palestine.

One lucky bidder paid $140,000 to duet with rocker Nick Cave on Destiny's Child's Bootylicious, while Bryan Adams' performance of Status Quo's Rocking All Over The World went for $60,000.

Other stars who took to the stage in aid of the charity included The Clash star Mick Jones, former Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde and Lulu.
