David Beckham has disappointed hopeful soccer fans by announcing that he won't be making his highly anticipated Major League Soccer debut on Saturday due to an ankle injury.

David sustained the injury on June 7th during a game for his former soccer team Real Madrid, and has been nursing the wound ever since. “At the moment it doesn’t look good that I’m going to play. It’s more important to me personally that my ankle is right, and I don’t think it’ll be right for the game,” Beckham told ESPN.

Although it looks like the 34-year-old soccer star will be benched on Saturday's game against Chelsea; Beckham says that the decision is better in the long run, “I’m here for five years,” he says.

David has also landed his own reality TV show, named "David Beckham's Soccer USA," that will follow his first season playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy. His wife, Victoria Beckham, and their three children moved to the United States after he signed a contract with Galaxy.

Meanwhile, Victoria is so desperate to get their three boys, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz into an exclusive American school she will do anything she can, even promise free gym classes taught by David.

“Victoria was doing everything, like baking cakes—everything possible,” David says about his wife efforts. “I actually think I’m going to be the school P.E. teacher! She promised everything possible to get the kids in the school they liked. She’s done well.”
