John Travolta sues airport for "lying to him"

'Hairspray' actor John Travolta sued an airport near his home after accusing them of lying to prevent him from flying his Boeing 707 there.

The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday and alleged that owners of The Greystone Airport , James and Christine Garemore, lied to the Federal Aviation Administration by falsely changing the records in 2006. The false changes claimed the airport could not support large planes.

The airport, which is located in the Jumbolair Aviation Estates, which is a “fly-in-community” that has a $6 million runway making it the largest private paved airfield in the U.S. The “Hairspray” star built an $8 million house in the estates and claims that he was assured he could use the airport.

The lawsuit is seeking the withdrawal of the 2006 report and prohibits “future baseless filings.” James Garemore maintains the claim that the airport cannot support heavy aircraft. “The runway is not suitable for heavy aircraft. It is cracking and breaking. They are bringing this lawsuit against me and all I was doing was trying to maintain safety here,” Garemore says.

According to The Garemore’s lawyer - John Travolta was not denied use of the airport. Their lawyer said: “John Travolta is free to land. My client has never stopped him from landing, but my client felt he needed to report the condition of the runway,” Todd Hopson, Garemore’s lawyer, said.
