Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has been formally charged with DUI following her car crash in Beverly Hills, California in May this year.

Lindsay was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, after she crashed her car into a curb, but she was not formally charged because she was seeking medical treatment at a local hospital.

Police claimed a small amount of cocaine was found in the vehicle, but it was not on Lohan.

On Thursday, Lohan surrendered herself to Beverly Hills police and was formally booked on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run, before being released on $30,000 bail.

Lindsay Lohan is set to appear in Beverly Hills Superior Court on August 24th.

Two days after the accident, Lohan checked into Promises rehab center in Malibu, California, where she sought six weeks of treatment. She was released on July 13th.
