British actor Clive Owen has heaped praise on fellow Brit Daniel Craig for successfully resurrecting the James Bond movie franchise.

Daniel Craig was heavily criticized by diehard James Bond fans when he landed the role of 007 in 2006's re-incarnation of Casino Royale, but the Children Of Men star believes "all the shit" Craig was given was unnecessary - and insists the actor was always more than capable of filling the iconic superspy role.

He says, "They should have been celebrating the fact they gave the role to a proper actor and not a model.
"He swung it around big time."
