Elton John wants the internet turned off

Elton John
Outspoken British singer Elton John is convinced that the only way to "save music" is to have shut the Internet down.

Elton says that he fears there's "too much technology available" and it's starving musical creativity.

He says, "I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut the whole Internet down for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span.

"I'm sure, as far as music goes, it would be much more interesting than it is today." And Elton looks forward to a musical revolution - from a new punk.
He adds, "We need something like jazz or hip-hop or punk to come along and shake things up... I think the disenchantment of this moment has got to come out. "I hope whatever it produces will be even fiercer than punk. We need something to do that - and we need it quickly."
