Paris Hilton to star in musical thriller

Socialite Paris Hilton has managed to beat off more than 30 hopeful actresses to land a role in an upcoming musical thriller.

The socialite, actress, entrepreneur & singer will star alongsideactor Alexa Vega (of 'Spy Kids' fame) and 'Goodfellas' actor Paul Sorvino in 'Repo! The Genetic Opera'.

26-year-old Hilton will sing in the futuristic movie, which contains musical numbers ranging from rock to opera, impressed filmmakers with her voice.

Director Darren Lynn Bousman, best known for the 'Saw' horror movie sequels, said: "I have auditioned at least 30 actresses for this role - Paris came in and owned it. She is this role."

Hilton recently teased about the role, stating: "I've been rehearsing every day, seven hours a day. We're just in the studio. We're doing dance and singing. We go shoot next month in Toronto... It's very cool and unique project."
