Tasmania launches petition to lure Elton John to their country

Elton John
Tasmania's Tourism chiefs have launched an official petition to lure Sir Elton John into the country for a performance.

Tasmania's State Government have urged locals to back their campaign to bring the singer to the Southern hemisphere territory after the Rocket Man announced five dates in Australia in December this year.

Promoter Michael Chugg insists Elton could be persuaded to add another performance to the scheduled gigs, but says locals must prove they are desperate to have him perform in their area.

He says, "There are two or three regional areas that would love to see Elton John play there and basically my attitude is, well, it's a big show, it's not easy to do, let's see how interested you are."

North Queensland, Australia, is also vying for the potential additional performance by John.

Elton is set to perform in Vevey, Leke Geneva Switzerland, on September 8 as well as a one off in New Zealand.

The gig in December will mark the anniversary of his Wellinton gig last year.
