Mel B and her Lawyer
British pop singer Melanie Brown has defended her paternity battle with actor Eddie Murphy, insisting that she is doing it for all the other single parents and mothers out there. The 'Spice Girls' singer says that although she would like the battle to be private, hashing it out in public will inspire other people in her position to take legal action.

Mel B and Eddie Murphy were dating last year, but split before their daughter Angel Iris was born. Melanie always maintained that the child was Murphy's, and recently claimed that she and Eddie both planned the pregnancy. Murphy then hit back at Mel's claims by denying they planned anything and even said that he wouldn't know if the baby was his until it had a paternity test.

Brown took his words to heart and after Angel Iris was born, she took legal action and had the actor take a paternity test. The DNA test proved the baby was his, but Brown claims he has not paid one penny of child support.

I want to stand up for all the other single parents/mothers out there that are in the same position as me. I mean this isn't the first time it's happened to a woman. I think it's time for fathers like that to stop and be responsible and be an emotional support to their kids, Brown said.
