Heidi Montag's engagement ring is a fake

Actor Spencer Pratt reportedly gave his fiance, Heidi Montag a fake engagement ring. Pratt bragged about his purchase; claiming that Jennifer Lopez and Kobe Bryant's wife had the same ring. Pratt claimed he bought a pink diamond surrounded by white diamonds.

One problem, though, sources have revealed the truth behind the ring. First, Pratt had to borrow pal Brody Jenner's credit card to even buy the ring. Even worse, the ring he joked Montag would have to get a "GPS device" for in case she lost it, was bought from the Ice Accessory store in a Brentwood mall. Further more, the "pink diamond" he claimed he bought isn't even a diamond; it's a lavender, lemon amethyst.

At least he told the truth about something, the amethyst really is surrounded by small diamonds. The ring he bragged about retails for $2,890; a far cry from a ring equal to Jennifer Lopez's.
