Disney's "High School Musical 2" smashes TV records

The Friday night premier of Disney's long-awaited "High School Musical 2" broke records when it was named the most watched basic cable telecast ever. The original movie premiered in January and saw 10 million viewers where the second drew in 17.2 million viewers.

High School Musical 2, starring Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman successfully managed to draw in the most kid viewers of and telecast ever with 6.1 million. Disney plans to keep the hit fresh in fans minds by releasing a documentary in the fall about the making of the movie called "High School Musical: The Music in You." A "High School Musical 3" is being written for theatrical release.
