Eleven extras have reportedly been injured on the set of Tom Cruise'' new film "Valkyrie" on a German set Last Sunday.

The men were hurt when they fell from an open truck during the shoot in Berlin, when the vehicle went round a bend.

The filming was immediately halted, and the truck has since been taken for examination to determine what went wrong.

Tom Cruise was not on set at the time of the accident, as he had the weekend off.

The film, which is being directed by Bryan Singer is based on the July Plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler led by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who will be portrayed by Cruise.

The film has been faced with heavy criticism, when it was announced that Cruise would play Stauffenberg.

Germany's Defence Ministry spokesperson claimed that the film would not be allowed to be shot in Germany if Cruise was in the lead role.

The German's believe that Cruise's Scientology beliefs are a pretense of religion.
