Exclusive new reports has suggested that Rihanna's mega hit single, 'Umbrella', was actually meant for troubled pop star, Britney Spears.

Hip-hop star Rihanna broke UK records, being the longest running No.1 for a decade. However, should she get all the credit? It was actually meant for Britney.

Spears has been needing a break in the past few months, and she might have indeed needed an 'Umbrella' for all the rain that has been pouring away at her this year.

The star, whose last hit single came two years ago with 'Toxic, missed out on the chance of another hit single, because of her lazy attitude, according to Tricky Stewart.

Speaking to WENN, singer/songwriter said: "I was working with Tricky in his studio the day he finished 'Umbrella'. As soon as I heard it I said, 'That is a smash, I have to have it,' but he told me it was on hold for Britney.

"He waited but Britney's people never called him back".
