Explosive device detonated near "Sopranos" star's Manhattan studio

It has been reported that an explosive device was detonated right outside the New York studio owned by "The Sopranos" actor Michael Imperioli early Tuesday morning. The explosion damaged a van, but didn't cause any serious injuries.

Police have said they do not know whether-or-not the explosion was connected to Imperioli's Studio Dante.

The device was detonated around 1 am, leaving many residents of the apartments above the studio to evacuate the building.

There was no sign of terrorism, but there are many questions that need to be answered. The police department's bomb squad was investigating what kind of explosive was used and why it was detonated in front of the studio, two blocks south of Madison Square Garden.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said later that it was caused by "some kind of small explosive device," but not a pipe bomb.

Imperioli played Christopher Moltisanti, Tony Soprano's nephew, on the HBO television show. Studio Dante, which Imperioli created with wife, Victoria, is described on its Web site as "an unexpected jewel-box that was built to house progressive new plays.
