Salma Hayek gives birth to a girl

It has been announced that Mexican actress Salma Hayek has given birth to a girl, and surprising enough - it's a baby.

Salma's publicist Cari Ross, says: "Mother and daughter are doing well," - however, no further details have yet been released, but according to TMZ, the girl has been named Valentina Paloma Pinault.

A source reportedly told People magazine that the actress entered hospital on Thursday night, and the baby's father, Henri Pinault was present.

This is Hayek's a first child & Pinault's 3rd - he has two children from a previous marriage.

The couple first revealed the pregnancy in March, and at the same time, they announced they were engaged, and planning a wedding.

Pinault is the Head Honcho of PPR (The luxury goods firm that owns Gucci & Yves Saint Laurent, respectively.)

Hayek isn't the only celebrity to give birth to a daughter this week - British pop icon Charlotte Church also gave birth to a baby daughter, weighing 6lb 12oz.
