Paul McCartney opens up to Pete Doherty
Paul McCartney has reportedly opened up to troubled British singer Pete Doherty - and confessed that that he only joined the Beatles to sleep with women - and quashed rumours that John Lennon was gay.
According to Britain's Mirror newspaper, the former 'Beatle's star asked the 'Babyshambles' to interview him after seeing him perform with his band on Jonathan Ross' BBC chat show.
He told Pete: "The whole thing about getting into a band was to get girls, basically. Money and girls. Probably girls first.
"So when you are on the road, and there was time for a party, we had a bunch of those." Sir Paul said the parties were "decadent" - and he slept "top and tail" in the same bed as Lennon.
But he denied his former songwriting partner was gay, adding: "What I spotted was completely the opposite. It was just chicks, chicks, chicks."
The interview for the Observer took place after Doherty was allowed out of rehab for the afternoon.
