Amy Winehouse's friends glad she got arrested for having cannabis

Amy Winhouse's friends have expressed their joy over the fact the troubled singer was arrested last week after being caught in possession of cannabis in Norway.

According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, Amy's pals were delighted to hear she had been fined for possessing only weed in Norway last week as they feared it would be something much harder.

Amy, 24, was a self-confessed cannabis user before getting involved in heroin and cocaine.

Amy's family have been begging the troubled 'Rehab' singer to return to the softer drug – so when she was arrested at a Bergen hotel they thought she was taking their advice.

A pal told the Sun newspaper: “We were chuffed when she was caught with cannabis. Everyone used to worry about her cannabis habit, but now we look back at those days fondly. We have been telling her to quit the hard stuff and get back on the weed.”

Amy was fined $480 after being arrested last Thursday in the Norwegian city, where she was due to perform on a European tour. Amy's druggy husband Blake Fielder-Civil was also arrested.

Amy’s dad Mitch flew out to Bergen upon hearing the news and watched her perform on Friday.

A fan of the singer, who recognized Mitch in the audience, said: “I told him to look out for her.
