Alan Carr's father longed for him to become a footballer
Alan Carr's father longed for him to become a footballer but he kicked a ball like Goldie Hawn, he has revealed.
The camp Friday Night Project host grew up playing for the town football team because his father was the manager, but says he looked like the American actress on the pitch.
He said: "I had pushy parents. My dad wanted me to be a footballer. He was the manager of the team in the town I was growing up in.
"They'd make me captain of the team without seeing me. I'd be toe punting it and screaming like Goldie Hawn so I'd end up being cheerleader or something.
"Dad would be watching the FA Cup final and say 'that's my dream to see you at Wembley'. I went and saw Steps instead!
"He didn't really see the funny side but he's great now," he added on ITV's The Paul O'Grady Show.
