Kanye West's mum changed her mind several times before deciding to go through with operation
The plastic surgeon who claims to have operated on Kanye West mum's before she died revealed she had changed her mind several times over whether to go through with it.
It comes as the heartbroken hip hop superstar spoke for the first time about the death, thanking people for the "outpouring of support and kind words".
Dr Donda West, 58, a retired professor, raised West as a single mother and was his agent for a while.
She died on Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital due to complications from cosmetic surgery.
According to gossip website TMZ.com, Dr Jan Adams had performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery on Donda.
He reportedly said the death was unforeseen and caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or massive vomiting.
Dr Adams also reportedly said that she had been consulting with him over four months and over the period she green lit - and then halted - the procedure numerous times.
He refuted reports that another doctor had refused to perform the surgery because of a medical condition.
Meanwhile, West released a statement regarding the death.
It reads: "Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West.
"After working in higher education for 31 years, Dr. Donda West and Kanye West co-founded the Kanye West Foundation with the mission of helping to combat the severe dropout problem in high schools across the country.
"The first and signature initiative of the Kanye West Foundation is Loop Dreams. Designed to capitalize on students existing interest in hip-hop, Loop Dreams challenges students to learn more about what's behind hip-hop culture in order to help them develop skills, express themselves creatively and be empowered.
"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dr. West's name to the Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute."
