Kanye West's Mum dies following plastic surgery

Kanye West's mother died after she tried to improve her looks with a tummy tuck and breast reduction.

Donda West, 58, underwent the cosmetic surgery at a clinic in Beverly Hills, California, shortly before she was rushed to hospital.

But her plastic surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams, says he is not to blame for the former Chicago State University chairwoman's death.

He told celebrity news website TMZ that the tragedy was unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, a pulmonary embolism or massive vomiting.

Dr Adams came under fire after another surgeon claimed he had refused to carry out Donda's surgery requests due to a medical condition she had.

Dr. Andre Aboolian, also based in Beverly Hills, claims he was set to perform a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Kanye's Mum, but told her she needed to get clearance from an internist first.

Apparently Donda never went to that doctor, and subsequently had the procedures performed.
But Dr Adams says Donda consulted with him for four months, and kept changing her mind - before eventually going ahead with the procedure.

"He [Dr Aboolian] is sleazy and manipulating the truth to elevate his own importance," Dr Adams blasted.

Kanye's mother died after she was rushed to the emergency room at the Centinela Freeman Hospital in Marina del Rey on Saturday night.

Paramedics responded to a 911 call from her home at 7.35pm, and rushed her to ER where Doctors tried to revive her. Donda died later that night.

The Los Angeles County Coroner has confirmed that they are investigating the death.

Possible cosmetic surgery complications is one of the lines they are looking into. An autopsy is due to be performed today [Tuesday].

On Monday, Kanye's family issued a statement, thanking everyone for their kind words at the difficult time.

"Kanye West, his family and friends, would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother," the statement said.

"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dr. West's name to the Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute.

"Those donations can be made by visiting the Foundation's Web site, www.KanyeWestFoundation.org or by mail at Kanye West Foundation, 8560 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069.

"Details of funeral services are still pending."

Donda was a former chairwoman of Chicago State University's English department, and headed up the company for Kanye's West Brands endeavors.

She also handles the non-profit Kanye West Foundation, which seeks to increase literacy and reduce dropout rates.
