Alicia Keys has a go at presenting on Tuesday's TRL

Singer Alicia Keys had a stab at presenting on a US music TV show.

The R&B sensation was a guest presenter on MTV's popular TRL on Tuesday.

There was more to celebrate for Keys, 27, with the release of her new album, As I Am, which came out on the same day.

To accompany her appearance on the show, the star presented a premiere of new music video, 'Like you'll never see me again.'

The down to earth performer admitted during the recording she allowed herself a small indulgence when she banked her first big cheque.

Keys said: I bought myself a beautiful piano, because I thought I deserved it."

Keys also told how a trip to Egypt inspired her new album.

She said: "Seeing the pyramids makes you believe you can create anything you want.

That influenced me and made me feel free to try anything."

Alicia Keys has sold over 25 million records worldwide, and has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy Awards.
