Gordon Ramsay loses temper with Regis Philbin

November 15 2007

Gordon RamsayGordon Ramsay shows Americans how to cook Thanksgiving dinner - and soon loses his temper with a US television presenter.

The fiery-tempered chef whipped up posh Brussels sprouts when he appeared on talk show, Live With Regis Philbin.

But Ramsay soon ran into problems with the host.

Philbin said: "I don't like Brussels sprouts."

A frustrated Ramsay replied: "But you haven't tasted them yet. How can you say that?

"At least give me a chance to let you taste something different.

"You're like an old granny.

"You sound like my grandma."

Ramsay, 41, then got increasingly angry with Philbin's chopping skills.

He went on: "I didn't realize you were that bad.

"You're making me nervous."

Philbin, 76, said: "You want to tell at me, don't you?"

Ramsay said: "I'd like to confirm you're the biggest nightmare I've ever had in the kitchen."

Co-host Kelly Ripa added: "This is the longest I've heard you go without using the F-word."

Ramsay - whose Kitchen Nightmares series has proved a hit in the US in its first season - showed viewers how to make roasted Brussels sprouts.

Excuse me? Americans should

Excuse me? Americans should what? This is the first I've heard of it and this is a website based in the UK, yes? Seems lik you're the only ones who've noticed.
Also, I doubt British citizens (if that's what the first poster is) are the ones that should be throwing the first stone on the "waiting for government checks" issue.

Oh, good grief. The show is

Oh, good grief. The show is called "Live with Regis and Kelly". And I'm not sure why this is new, either. But Chef Ramsay was hilarious on that show even during Regis' display of utter uselessness.

As annoying as Regis is, why

As annoying as Regis is, why is this even news? Americans should get over their PC nonsense and learn to eat their Brussel sprouts! If your kids (and you) won't eat them, cut them in quarters and saute them with EV Olive Oil and sliced garlic...and then steam them a bit and add a splash of a tiny bit of vinegar...I guarantee they you will like them!

"Regis & Philbin"?? The name

"Regis & Philbin"?? The name of the very short person, who is extremely well-known as a T.V. host for the past 40+ years IS Regis Philbin, full stop.
It's a light-hearted ditzy show for the gormless who gawp at the screen whilst folding laundry or waiting for government checks to come. His side kick is Kelly Rippa. It sounds like they were having fun with Gordon's image.

Damn I need to get a copy of

Damn I need to get a copy of this episode for my website..

Sound entertaining.

BRITS BE COOL......REGIS

BRITS BE COOL......REGIS DOES THIS TO ALL GUESTS, HE TOYS WITH THEM TO GET A JOKE OR RIFF GOING FOR THE AUDIENCE. ITS ALL IN FUN. I SEEN THE SHOW AND GORDON COULD'NT STOP LAUGHING..AND YES TOO MANY AMERICANS ARE LIVING OFF THE GOVERMENT.

“You want to tell at me,

“You want to tell at me, don’t you?”

That's not an American expression. I think you are misquoting him, possibly because of a typo. We're more likely to say "tell me off" or "yell at me".

I agree with other comments

I agree with other comments that the episode was a lark. I had not seen it before and Ramsay was totally hilarious even though you could see he wanted to strangle Regis. Very, very funny.
