Scots bagpipers appear on The Today Show

November 14 2007

A group of Scots bagpipers were less than impressed when US television presenters showed their appreciation for the music - by dancing an Irish jig.

The Red Hot Chili Pipers, in New York for a concert today/yesterday (Nov 14), did an impromptu set on breakfast television programme, The Today Show.

The musicians, from Glasgow and Edinburgh, launched into a cover of the Queen hit, We Will Rock You.

It inspired weatherman and host Al Roker to break into a jig - and he urged co-presenter Matt Lauer to join him.

Roker - who read the weather in faux-Scottish accent - shouted at Lauer: "Here we go.

Do the Riverdance with me." The pair then jigged for several seconds.

Theatre hit, Riverdance, features traditional Irish step dancing.

That segment was the funniest impromptu event I have seen on TV in years. You need to show it again. Too funny!
