Lindsay Lohan serves just 84 minutes behind bars

Lindsay Lohan has checked in - and out - of jail after serving just 84 minutes behind bars.

The Mean Girls star checked into the Lynwood Detention Facility at 10.30am on Thursday and was released at 11.54am. Her short stint in the clink followed two drink-driving arrests in the space of two months.

She spent just two minutes longer behind bars than Simple Life star Nicole Richie, who served 84 minutes for driving under the influence of drugs.

Lohan, 21, was sentenced to one day in jail by a judge following her drink-driving convictions earlier this year. The actress was pulled over in Santa Monica, California, on July 24 this year after chasing her assistant's mother in her car.

The rap was Lohan's second drink-driving arrest in less than two months. On May 26 she was booked after she lost control of her car in Hollywood.

The inmate information page on the LA County Sheriff's Department revealed that Lohan checked into Lynwood at 10.30am.

She was booked 17 minutes later - and posed for a new glamorous mugshot, sporting a red top and heavy eye make-up. The pic was a vast improvement on her earlier mugshot, which showed her wide-eyed and make-up free.

As well as her stint in jail, a judge ordered Lohan to complete 10 days of community service and enroll in an alcohol education programme.

Following her drink driving arrests, the Georgia Rules star checked herself into an exclusive rehab centre in Utah.

She spent around two months at Cirque Lodge, taking part in activities such as rafting, hiking, cycling and pumpkin-picking.

Lohan is still undergoing outpatient treatment at the facility, and has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in Los Angeles.

The actress completed her jail stint in the Lynwood Detention Facility - the same prison where socialite Paris Hilton spent 22 days earlier this year.

Hilton was banished behind bars after being busted for driving on a suspended license.

Nicole Richie also served her 82-minute jail stint in Lynwood.

The pregnant TV star was sentenced to jail after she took marijuana and Vicodin - and then drove the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank.

Lindsay has been doing her best to stay away from the party scene since arriving back in LA after her time in rehab.

She is dating Riley Giles, who she met at Cirque Lodge.
