Donda West's cosmetic surgeon to give first TV interview

The plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother is to give his first television interview - on the day of her funeral.

Dr Jan Adams, who performed surgery on Donda West just 24 hours before she died, will appear on US talk show Larry King Live tonight (Tuesday).

Just hours before the show airs, the West family will mourn Donda's death at a private funeral service in Oklahoma City.

Adams, who works in Beverly Hills, California, performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Donda, 58, the day before her death.

The former Chicago State University chairwoman passed away after she was rushed to the emergency room at the Centinela Freeman Hospital in Marina del Rey on November 10. Paramedics responded to a 911 call from her home at 7.35pm, and rushed her to ER where doctors tried to revive her. Donda died later that night.

Dr Adams' interview with Larry King is bound to cause controversy, being the same days as the funeral. CNN released a press release, confirming the cosmetic surgeon would be on the show, but refused to answer calls asking whether the interview was in bad taste.

Dr Adams has previously denied being to blame for Donda's death. He told celebrity news website TMZ that the tragedy was unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, a pulmonary embolism or massive vomiting.

The doctor initially came under fire after another surgeon claimed he had refused to carry out Donda's surgery due to a medical condition she had.

Dr. Andre Aboolian, also based in Beverly Hills, claims he was set to perform a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Kanye's Mum, but told her she needed to get clearance from an internist first.

But Dr Adams says Donda consulted with him for four months, and kept changing her mind - before eventually going ahead with the procedure. "He [Dr Aboolian] is sleazy and manipulating the truth to elevate his own importance," Dr Adams blasted.

The Los Angeles County Coroner has confirmed that they are investigating the death. Possible cosmetic surgery complications is one of the lines they are looking into.

An autopsy was performed on November 13 and reportedly concluded that Donda died "as a result of surgery or anesthesia".
