Donda West's surgeon walks out on Larry King
The plastic surgeon that operated on Kanye West's mother the day before she died walked out of an interview with Larry King last night.
Dr Jan Adams said he had initially agreed to do the interview with the legendary talk show host - scheduled to take place on the same day as Donda West's funeral - to correct what he called 'inaccuracies' about him in the press.
But when it came time for him to speak he told King that the West family had contacted him and asked him not to talk.
He said: "I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for the West family and they have asked me not to go on. "I've said from the very beginning, I don't have a side in this. They are my side and so I'm going to respect their wishes."
The doc then pulled out his earpiece and walked off of the stage.
Dr Adams performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Donda West, 58, on November 9.
The surgeon said there were no complications in the procedure but The Los Angeles County coroner's office, who completed a preliminary autopsy report last week, has said Ms West may have died November 10 from issues related to the surgery.
Several women that claim Dr Adams botched their surgery have surfaced since West's death.
Later in the Larry King show, Alan Tenenbaum, an attorney for Dr. Adams, explained that Adams received a letter from attorneys representing the West family.
The letter asked him not to appear on the show. Larry King left open the possibility that Adams could appear on the show at a later date with the family's permission.
Authorities in Los Angeles are still investigating the death and awaiting toxicology reports from West's autopsy.
In an earlier interview published in the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday the Beverly Hills-based doctor said there was a 'small list of possibilities' that could have resulted in Ms West's death.
He told the publication he believed he knew why she died but would not comment until after an official inquiry is completed.
Although he was not specific to West's death, Adams theorised that a person in her situation could have succumbed to a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or accidental overdose of drugs prescribed for pain after the procedure.
Dr Adams has been a high-profile U.S. surgeon and hosted his own plastic surgery show on the Discovery Health channel.
He also appeared on numerous TV talk shows to talk about his field.
