William Shatner upset he is being ignored for the new Star Trek movie
William Shatner has a new Captain's Sob.
Shatner is upset that he is being ignored for the new Star Trek movie.
Shatner has been shut out of the project despite old pal Leonard Nimoy, who plays Vulcan Mr. Spock, signing up for the sci-fi film.
"How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected? That doesn't make good business sense to me," he told U.S TV show Extra.
"I've become even more popular than I was playing Captain Kirk. I'm good box office and I get publicity. But, they are going in a different direction and it'll be a wonderful film."
The movie, which is being directed by Lost creator J.J Abrams, is due out in December 2008.
The plot is a carefully guarded secret, but it is believed it will be set as an early adventure for the Enterprise crew.
Shatner's Kirk character was killed off at the end of 1994's 'Star Trek: Generations' movie.
The new movie stars Chris Pines as a young Kirk, Zachary Quinto as a young Spock, and British actor Simon Pegg as engineer Scotty.

I am excited about this new
I am excited about this new movie, mostly because Simon Pegg is in it, but I think SHatner should have at least been offered a role, even a small one. Star Trek lives only because of him and the original cast, so cutting him out is a little like cutting out the heart of the entire entity.
I’ve been a Trek fan since
I’ve been a Trek fan since the early 70’s - Shatner did okay (not great, but okay) in the original series, but ALL of his performances since then have been AWFUL! He’s just walking through them. Not to mention that he’s a scene stealing ham. I can’t even stand to watch those gawd-awful priceline commercials. He WON'T be missed.
