Amy Winehouse killed a hamster!

November 24 2007

Amy WinehouseTroubled British singer Amy Winehouse has been accused of killing a poor defenseless hamster called Georgie Porgie.

And, an insider, Amy's former session musician, claims: "It was probably the crack."

Peter Pepper toldĀ  Britain's Mirror newspaper that the hamster murder happened last year after he and Amy had been boozing at his girlfriend's pad in North London.

He said: "Georgie was a birthday present and we'd got him out to play with in the morning

"I'd been to bed, but Amy had stayed up and was still going strong and had drunk the drinks cabinet dry.

"The next thing I know, it bites me, runs off and Amy says she'll catch it. I was a bit suspicious when she said she was good with hamsters.

"But I went to put a plaster on my finger and by the time I came back Amy said she'd put it to bed and it was sleeping.

"But just hours later the hamster was stone cold and hard. I don't know what she did to it - it was probably crack!"

Despite the hamster's untimely death, Peter is still good friends with the 'Rehab' singer - and his band even supported her at Somerset House, in London, earlier this year.

But he said he'd never raised the Georgie Porgie subject before - because Amy's too "scary".

He said: "I've never directly accused her of killing my hamster as I'm too scared. She can be quiet fierce."
The pair struck up a friendship whilst on tour during the period of Winehouse's debut album - "Frank" - before Pepper went off to concentrate on his own band.

But the fate of Georgie Porgie has never been far from Pete's thoughts.

He added: "That day last year was quite traumatic. Not only did I have to deal with a dead hamster, but for some reason Amy had also managed to unplug the freezer and flooded the whole kitchen and utility room. She can be a bit mental sometimes."
