The Spice Girls make appearance in the audience of Dancing with the Stars

The Spice Girls showed they really REALLY want Mel B to win Dancing with the Stars - by making a surprise appearance in the show's audience.

The girl band, who are busy rehearsing for their reunion tour, surprised Scary Spice by showing up unannounced at her backstage trailer.

Accompanied by British TV presenter Nicki Chapman, the girls screamed "surprise" as Mel opened the door. They then took front row seats for the show finale, and booed the judges every time they criticized their pal.

Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm, showed up at CBS studios in Los Angeles at around 4.30pm. Arriving in two cars, the girls snuck around to the contestant's trailers to wish Mel luck before the show.

After her two routines, the girl group clapped and cheered, with Geri giving the thumbs up sign for the camera. Even pouting Posh managed to crack a smile as she watched her friend dance the Cha Cha and a freestyle routine.

The Spice Girls were taking no prisoners as the judges told Mel her dancing was not up to her usual high standard.

As panelist Carrie Ann Inaba gave her criticisms, the girls booed and looked sternly at the judges. "Guess who's not getting show tickets," presenter Tom Bergeron joked.

The Dancing with the Stars winner will be announced tonight (Tuesday).
