Jessica Simpson's dad set her up with Tony Romo

Jessica Simpson's dad reportedly helped set up the Texan songbird with her new boyfriend, Tony Romo.

Joe Simpson, who is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, gave the NFL star Jessica's number after Romo asked him if he could take her on a date. "Joe and Tony have been friendly for a while. Joe is a huge Dallas Cowboy fan, and Tony has always had a crush on her - he even said on his Web site like a year ago that it was his dream to date her," an insider told the New York Post.

"Jessica has been in Nashville and Dallas recording her new country album.

"When Tony found out, he called Joe and said: 'I know she's not dating anyone right now, can I take her out for a drink at least?' "Jessica said it was okay for Joe to give Tony her number and they hit it off. "They've been dating for a couple of weeks now and Jessica is so happy. She's been texting everyone about how great he is."

Romo has previously been linked to country singer Carrie Underwood and actress Sophia Bush. But his relationship with Simpson is going so well that she invited him to her family's Thanksgiving dinner in Waco, Texas.

A representative for Simpson declined to comment on the singer's private life, but said: "She is happily recording her country album."
