Police arrest man who took campaign workers hostage at Hillary Clinton's office
A man who took campaign workers hostage at Hillary Clinton's office has been arrested.
The captor, named in news reports as Leeland Eisenberg, was handcuffed by armed cops as he kneeled on the ground outside the campaign headquarters.
He had reportedly entered the building and told workers he had a bomb strapped to his chest. The man took three people hostage on Friday afternoon, at Clinton's campaign office in Rochester, New Hampshire.
Two women were released during the afternoon, while a man walked out moments before the suspect himself.
Foster's Daily Democrat identified the suspect as Eisenberg, from Somersworth, New Hampshire - who is apparently well known to local police.
ABC News said the hostage-taker had a history of mental illness and had earlier told his son to "watch the news". He also reportedly asked family members where he could purchase road flares and had been drinking for the past 72 hours.
Eisenberg had been scheduled to appear in Strafford Superior Court on Friday afternoon, for a domestic violence hearing with his wife.
After the hostage situation broke out, armed police surrounded the Clinton campaign building and evacuated the surrounding area. Clinton was not in New Hampshire at the time and cancelled a National Democratic Meeting in Virginia when she heard the news.
