Christian Bale to star in Terminator 4

Christian BaleChristian Bale is set to star in the fourth installment of the Terminator movies.

The Batman Begins actor is to take on the role of John Connor, previously made famous by Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl, in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

Bale will play Connor in his 30s, who tries to create a resistance organization with Earth's remaining survivors to battle against the army of robots being created by Skynet.

Warner Bros. have taken over the 'Terminator' franchise and producers are believed to want the latest installment in the saga to be the first of a trilogy.

It is unknown if Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear in the new movie. Bale, who can currently be seen as one of Bob Dylan's personas in 'I'm Not There,' is currently working on 'The Dark Knight', his second Batman movie.

The 33-year-old star is also attached to 'Killing Pablo' the true story of Colombian gangster and terrorist, Pablo Escobar.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is penciled in for release in summer 2009.
