Russell Crowe steps into Brad Pitt's shoes for State of Play

Russell CroweRussell Crowe is stepping into Brad Pitt's shoes.

The Aussie star has agreed to replace Pitt in the Hollywood version of BBC drama 'State of Play.'

Producers were forced to find a replacement after Pitt pulled out of the project.

Crowe will play a journalist leading an investigation into a politically connected killing.

The movie will also star Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Robin Wright Penn.

State of Play will be directed by Scottish helmer Kevin Macdonald.
