Alan Carr teamed up with Lionel Blair to rescue a man
Alan Carr teamed up with Lionel Blair to save a man found clinging to the edge of Blackpool pier, he has revealed.
The star of The Friday Night Project thought he was in for an award for his life-saving actions until he discovered the man was well known as an attention seeker.
The duo had just finished filming a pilot programme when they heard a man was trying to jump from the North Pier.
Carr said: "People think we made it up. I'd done a show for Channel Four and me and Lionel were having a glass of red wine at the end of Blackpool Pier.
"Then a man comes saying there's a man trying to kill himself at the end of the pier. He asked the campest two men in Blackpool to save this man but we ran over.
"This man honestly had taken all is clothes off. He was in his pants hanging off the end.
"I poked my head over and said 'come on have a brandy.' While he was in shock me and Lionel grabbed his arms and pulled him over."
"It was an amazing feeling but I found out he was doing it all the time," he added on ITV's This Morning.
