Mark Ronson: "Amy Winehouse is fine"

December 7 2007

Mark Ronson and Amy WinehouseMusic producer Mark Ronson insists troubled pal Amy Winehouse is fine - and says she is happy about her clutch of Grammy award nominations.

Ronson, who produced several tracks on Winehouse's record Back to Black, said he had spoken to the singer about the news. And he said he hoped she could travel to the States, where he is based, to celebrate.

But he revealed she wasn't excited - because she doesn't get excited about anything. Ronson, 32, told a US publication: "She's good.

"I called her today because the record was something that we went through together.

"Hopefully she will get into America so we can celebrate."

Winehouse, 24, was fined after she was found to be in possession of marijuana in Norway in October - which may endanger her chances of getting a US work visa.

Ronson added: "Amy doesn't get excited about anything. "She was never once excited while in the studio. And today she is just like, 'Yeah, Ronnie, chops, we got Grammy nominations.' That's her. But she is happy and psyched."

Winehouse was shortlisted in six Grammy categories, including record, album and song of the year for Rehab. Back to Black is up for the Album of The Year Award at the 50th Grammy Awards ceremony on February 10, 2008.

It comes after Winehouse cancelled all gigs and other public appearances for the remainder of 2007, after her doctor advised her to take complete rest.

The troubled performer was reportedly treated in rehab this year and UK fans booed her during one shambolic concert.

Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has been remanded in custody until 18 January, accused of assaulting a pub landlord last June. He also faces a charge of perverting the course of justice.
