Shia LaBeouf walks free from court
Shia LaBeouf has walked free from court after trespassing charges against the Transformers star were dropped.
The actor was charged with criminal trespassing last month after he refused to leave a 24-hour chemist in Chicago in the middle of the night.
At the time, police said a security guard at the Walgreens claimed the 21-year-old appeared to be drunk while in the store.
But today (wed) the charges were dropped after the Walgreens Co. wrote a letter saying it did not want to prosecute him.
LaBeouf left court by a back door without making any comment. He smiled at the news when told by a judge he would not be prosecuted at the minute-long hearing. LaBeouf was accompanied in the Chicago courtroom by two prominent lawyers, Terry Gillespie and Ed Genson.
"This is a hollow victory for attorneys of your caliber," Judge William O'Malley told the lawyers, according to US television.
LaBeouf was arrested at around 2.30am on November 4. He was not given a sobriety test at the time because he was not driving a vehicle. After posting bail he was freed later that morning.
LaBeouf will star in the new Indiana Jones sequel, alongside Harrison Ford.
