Britney Spears is not "well enough" to be invited on American Idol

Troubled singer Britney Spears has been told that she isn't quite well enough to be a guest judge on American Idol.

Even though one film director believes the 'Gimme More' singer is worthy & capable to play the Virgin Mary - she isn't quite worthy of being a guest judge on the hit TV talent show, says Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe "I would have had Britney Spears last year when I thought she was trying to get it all back together again," he says.

"Britney, at this moment in time, I don't think is well enough to do anything," he added. "I think she needs looking after. I think she needs to pull herself together."

Lythgoe also added that Britney, who is currently embroiled in a bitter legal battle with former husband Kevin Federline, is an "exceptionally talented girl" but "needs taking care of right now."
