Vanessa Hudgens gets a new car for her birthday, but still gets lifts off her mum

Despite getting a brand new car for her 19th birthday, High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is still getting lifts off her mum.

Hudgens - who's dating her HSM co-star Zac Efron and turned 19 on Friday, treated her mum to a late breakfast before hitting the shops in Los Angeles yesterday (Mon).

According to reports, Vanessa decided to leave her swanky new Audi S4 Cabriolet in the garage preferring instead to take a ride in her mum's family car.

It isn't known who bought the car for Vanessa - but our money is on Zac Efron, 20.

Zac, meanwhile has struck up an unlikely partnership with rapper Lil Wayne, 25.

The unlikely pair collaborated on a track for a new remix CD for the teen-bopping High School Musical 2.

Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr, revealed he met Zac while he was trying to hide from a bunch of screaming fans.

He told a US magazine: “Zac and me was both in San Francisco a few months ago for a comic book convention or something, and we met at an after-party at some bar.

"To get away from these girls that was chasing him, he ducked into the bathroom and I followed him in there. I was like, ‘What’s crackin’, my brother from another mother?’"
