Actress Katie Holmes has reportedly been embroiled in bitter rows with husband Tom Cruise over her plans to resurrect her career by appearing in the next series of Dancing With The Stars.

‘Top Gun’ actor Cruise hates reality TV shows - and is even threating to forbid Katie, 29, from appearing on the show.

Now, thanks to Katie’s blossoming friendship with ‘Spice Girl’ Victoria Beckham, the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actress has met up with Mel B, who was a recent runner-up on the series. And Mel, 32, has arranged for Katie to meet with two producers of the show.

“Tom’s dead against Katie going on,” says an insider. “But Mel told her: ‘Go for it!.

“Katie’s sick and tired of Tom micro-managing her career and she’s hired a private dance instructor.”

Cruise and Holmes have also been arguing over the way Victoria has changed Katie’s image.

The insider says: “Before Victoria came along, Katie had no sense of fashion and she was lacking self-confidence.

“Victoria has helped Katie come into her own. But Tom detests Katie’s fierce new bob haircut.”
