Amy Winehouse to appear in Norway court to challenge drug conviction

December 29 2007

Amy WinehouseTroubled British singer Amy Winehouse will appear in a Norway court to challenge her recent drugs conviction.

The 24-year-old 'Rehab' star - whose husband Blake Fielder-Civil is locked up in London's Pentonville prison, was fined $720 for possession of cannabis in Bergen earlier this year.

But now, the troubled star - who's currently holidaying in the Caribbean with pals, claims she did not know what she was signing when she accepted the punishment.

Some countries refuse entry to anyone with a drug conviction, which would restrict Winehouse's ability to tour.

Bergen police said yesterday the singer would appear in court on February 29 to launch her appeal.

Their spokeswoman said: “If one appeals a conviction, it’s the rule that one has to appear in person.”

Amy - who was nominated for SIX Grammy awards earlier this month, was arrested with husband Blake, 25, in a Bergen hotel on October 18.

The pair spent the night in cells but were released after admitting possession of a quarter ounce of the drug.
