Britney Spears' mother asks fans to pray for her daughter
Britney Spears' mother has asked fans to pray for her troubled daughter after the singer was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
Lynn Spears tearfully said by telephone today (fri): "Just say prayers."
US celebrity TV show Access Hollywood revealed: "Lynn was extremely distraught, crying on the phone."
Spears, 26, was reportedly on suicide watch today (fri) after being admitted to hospital in Los Angeles late on Thursday night.
She has been placed on lockdown for a mental evaluation after the pop star locked herself in a room with one of her children at her Los Angeles home and refused to hand him over to ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Spears, who according to police appeared to be "under the influence of an unknown substance," was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
She was pictured being stretchered out of her home into a waiting ambulance. Sources say she has been put on a minimum 72-hour lock down for mental evaluation - and could remain in hospital for 14 days.
The Toxic singer, who has visitation rights with her two sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, was scheduled to hand the boys over to Federline at 7 pm on Thursday.
According to police, officers responded around 8pm to a call "about a custodial dispute regarding Britney Spears's children," says Los Angeles police Officer Jason Lee.
Nearly three hours later, police determined that a court order stated that the singer's children, who were with Spears at the time, were supposed to be with Federline, and a transfer was arranged, Lee said.
"While officers were on the scene, they observed Ms. Spears under the influence of an unknown substance," Lee added.
The Los Angeles Police Department said was taken to hospital "for her own welfare".
Both boys were taken to the hospital and Federline took the boys home early on Friday morning. Spears' father, Jamie, remains at the hospital with his eldest daughter.
Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, was tonight (fri) bidding to strip Spears of her visitation rights.

This is so sad Britney's own
This is so sad Britney's own mother is only thinking of herself by making her daugher's meltdown a TV contract with Dr.Phil and ET. Money, Money Money is all the Spears mom is thinking about. No wonder Britney wants to kill herself.
Hello America, I am writing
Hello America,
I am writing from beautiful Vancouver, BC, Canada. Was hoping to reach Britney's mom or Britney somehow.
If there's a kind person out there who can help me get this message through, it would be appreciated.
Firstly, I am deeply saddened (as are many of the main stream Canadians) by the brutal and invasive behavior of the media at this time. A young woman, who has given the world so much, is now being torn apart like an animal by the Press.
Ordinary people in Canada see this as the same kind of brutality that led to the death of our Princess, Diana...we wept and learned that our insatiable appetite for all things Diana, ultimately led to her death.
Britney, if by any fluke my humble message gets through to you...come to Canada. We have beautiful Gulf Islands and healing forests where you could hide and vanish from the awful world you are ensnared in.
Ordinary Canadians are repulsed by the treatment and disrespect you being shown at this time. We are refusing to read anymore of that 'crap' and changing to another channel when more cruelty pours into our homes.
I hope that you will have the opportunity to sue those bastards.
Please, please, just sneak across the border...people would reach out to you, find healing for you as well as kindness and privacy.
Take Special Care
