Kanye West to headline Glastonbury?

January 10 2008

Kanye WestHip Hop star Kanye West is apparently set to headline one of the world's biggest summer festivals - Glastonbury.

Michael Eavis - founder of the festival best known for its contemporary music, hinted “I’m putting on a black American headliner who’s absolutely terrific.”

Amy Winehouse is also set to perform at the summer gig “I really, really need her,” he said.

Last year, the festival was headlined by Arctic Monkeys, Björk, The Killers, Iggy & The Stooges, Amy Winehouse, The Who and Chemical Brothers - but was a complete washout as it was plagued with technical problems.

Kanye West has been keeping a relatively profile lately, as he has been grieving the loss of his mother, Donda West - who died aged 58 in November last year - by playing 'Connect 4' with Beyonce.

"When I was in Europe I would play this game (Connect Four) for hours and hours... it helped me zone out. Everybody would get involved... Derrick Dudley (Common's manager) and Consequence were the best other than me," he recently wrote on his blog.

Every now and then people would speak of this legendary Connect Four champion... Beyonce! I had to play her! So last night at Jay's (Jay Z) new 40/40 club in Las Vegas she beat me 9 times in a row!"

Kanye is also set to perform at the Grammy Awards next month. He has eight nominations, including album of the year and rap album of the year (Graduation).

Glastonbury takes place on the last weekend of June and lasts 3 days.
