Lauren Conrad denies being fired by Teen Vogue

January 13 2008

Lauren ConradThe Hills star Lauren Conrad has denied reports that she and pal Whitney Port were fired as interns from Teen Vogue.

“No, no, it was a decision I made because I was kind of done,” she told People.com on Friday. “I’ve been doing it for about two years, so I’m kind of done.”

Conrad - whose exploits are documented on hit MTV show The Hills - is yet to find another part-time job - “Honestly, I can’t tell you because I haven’t decided yet. I’m looking,” she said. “I really like working backstage at fashion shows, so I’m looking kind of in production,” she says. “I love it. It’s like the most amazing high. It’s like the best feeling.”

Neither MTV bosses or Teen Vogue would comment as to why they parted company with the pair, but insiders say it's likely both Conrad and Port will be featured in another job next season — but probably not at a magazine..

"The average age of the magazine's readership is 16 — do they really want to support the behavior depicted [in The Hills]?," said one source.

"They also started to see that newsstand sales were flat... there was no blip on the radar when Lauren and Whitney were involved."
