Nicole Richie gives birth to a girl

Nicole Richie and fiancé Joel Madden welcomed a baby girl into the world late Friday evening.

The baby, Nicole and Joel's first child together, has been named Harlow Winter Kate Madden. She was born Friday evening at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz.

"The beautiful healthy baby girl is home with her ecstatic parents," Richie's rep told People.com.

The 'Simple Life' star entered Cedars through a secret entrance late Thursday. Joel Madden was later seen in the delivery area of the L.A hospital, and was overheard saying, "She's going to start pushing soon."

Joel's brother & Good Charlotte bandmate Benji was present, as was Nicole's adopted father Lionel Richie, mom Brenda, and half-sister Sophia.

Earlier this week, Joel's brother Josh revealed that Richie was due to give birth any day. "I think it's sometime in the next week, that's all we know," he said. "We don't know what it is, we don't know any names."

Richie first broke the news of her pregnancy on TV show Good Morning America in August.
