Ike Turner died from cocaine overdose

Tina Turner's ex-husband Ike Turner died from a cocaine overdose, it emerged today.

The drug addict music legend, who was notorious for abusing Tina during their marriage, died at his San Diego home on December 12 aged 76.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office confirmed: "We are listing that he abused cocaine, and that's what resulted in the cocaine toxicity."

No illegal substances were found at Turner's home, but investigators did find drug paraphernalia.

Veteran singer Tina responded to the news of her ex-husband's death by issuing a statement saying: "Tina hasn't had any contact with Ike in more than 30 years."

Turner managed to partially rehabilitate his tainted image in his later years by touring the world with his band the Kings of Rhythm.
