Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are not engaged

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are not engaged, the actress' rep has said.

Reveal - a British weekly gossip magazine, had claimed "exclusively" that the Hollywood couple were getting married. According to the report, "Jake popped the question during a romantic trip to Rome last October, but Reese has only just accepted the Brokeback Mountain star’s proposal."

"It's absolutely false," Witherspoon's rep tells Us Weekly magazine. "There’s not one ounce of truth to it."

The 31-year-old 'Legally Blonde' star has been seeing Gyllenhaal, 26, since early last year. She has two children, Ava, 8, and Deacon, 3, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.

“He's great!” Witherspoon said of Gyllenhaal in October.
