Pete DohertyTroubled British singer Pete Doherty has received a caution for criminal damage following a tussle with a photographer, it has been reported.

The 28-year-old Babyshambles frontman appeared at Yeovil police station on Sunday to answer allegations of assault. But escaped being charged and received a caution for criminal damage instead.

The drugs ravaged rockerĀ  allegedly chased photographer Cath Mead into a shop in Crewkerne, Somerset, in August last year after she took a shot of his then girlfriend Irina Lazareanu.

Ms Mead was not seriously injured but damage was caused to her camera.

At the time Doherty was on bail at his cousin Barry Parsons' home in Tintinhull, Somerset, in relation to drugs and driving offenses.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "He [Pete] did report to Yeovil police station. A decision was taken that no further action would be taken after the assault.

"He was given a caution for the criminal damage to the camera."

Pete had been due at Crewkerne police station but the location was changed at the last minute to Yeovil to avoid a media circus.
